Weekly blog

This week we were told to read a blog by Ryan Sholin that is titled "links that redefine news" as you can tell by this catchy title the site has many links with web pages that are very unique ways of handling the news. Of all of the different links that were on the site there were a couple that caught my attention.

The first link that caught my eye was ...

  • Politifact - St. Petersburg Times & Congressional Quarterly
on this web site it takes things that politicians will say and fact checks them and will give the statement validity on whether or not the statement is true and if it is true how true it is. The tool that they use is called the truth-o-meter. It looks something like this...

this is an example of a half true statement that Hillary Clinton said. I found this both humerus and very informative. It helps the public know more about what the politicians are really saying when they open their political mouths.

The other site that I found useful was ...

Election headlines - KnoxNews & Publish2

This site gives the public all of the info, facts and opinions relating to the upcoming U.S. presidential election from across the web. This is a great way to know exactly what is going on in the presidential debate. It is kind of a one stop shop for the election. In Gilmor's We the Media he talks about making, “the Internet work the way it should. Instead of you searching for everything, the Internet comes to you on your terms.” It is sites like these and many others that really help us get the most out of what the Internet is capable of.
